Biography

Dr. Clare Harvey is the Director and a Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus.

She has a diverse clinical background, having traversed Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Although many of her clinical years were spent in critical care environments, Dr. Harvey has always had a deep passion for primary health care, equity in care across all levels of care, and how the nursing workforce is situated to support change within these contexts, and this is now the focus of her research.

Her major work has been in exploring models of nurse-led care (nurse/midwife navigators, nurse practitioners/advanced practice), workforce (missed/implicit care rationing), and with that, the continuity of care in vulnerable population groups, focusing not only on metropolitan but also rural and remote area settings.
